HOLLY METZGER

Holly Metzger grew up in a household with many animals — wild and domestic — which provided early inspiration for her art. She began drawing at an early age and was fascinated with the beauty of nature and the unintentional comic genius of animals. Holly takes pride in being able to convey the unique personality of each subject.

Her mentor, Everett Raymond Kinstler often said, “If you want to be a painter of portraits, paint everything!” While Holly’s primary focus has been portraits of people and animals, she also loves painting Landscapes and Still Life. She finds inspiration in places and things that are meaningful to her like antiques and the pastoral beauty and wildlife of the family apple farm in Ohio.

Holly double majored in Fine Art and Graphic design at Purdue University. After college she worked as a graphic designer for number of clients including the Bronx Zoo. Her love of painting soon prevailed and she began studying at The New York Academy, The Art Students’ League of NYC and The National Academy, NYC.

Her work has exhibited at The National Arts Club, The Salmagundi Club and The Dog Fancier’s Club in New York City. The Player’s Club in New York has five of her portraits in their private collection. Holly has also been honored by the Artist’s Magazine Competition and The Portrait Society of America.
